US Scottish Fiddle Champion returns!
A smash hit at last year’s Cowalfest concerts in Strone and Strachur, Jamie is returning to Loch Goil with a new duo partner, Ashley Broder, who plays mandolin, violin, and cello. ‘She has developed a uniquely delicate approach to Scottish bagpipe music that is unlike anything I have heard from other performers.’

Jamie’s CD ‘Shades of Green’ was described as ‘more than impressive.. it stops you dead in your tracks and demands that you listen. Subtle and energetic’. (SingOut! Magazine), and his performance at the Edinburgh Fiddle Festival praised as:‘a fiddler of subtlety, complexity and passionate intensity, an engaging performer who will create a rapt audience wherever he goes’. (Fiddle On Magazine).

CALLUNA, a leading all-girl trio on fiddle, clarsach, flute, whistle and vocals, are joined by Scots singer and guitarist CHRISTINE KYDD for the two key traditional music concerts during Cowalfest 2006.
Calluna is an exciting Scottish band whose approach to Celtic music is fresh and spirited. The classic combination of clarsach, fiddle and flute weave a colourful blend of traditional and original music. Formed in 1996, Calluna have delighted many audiences with their beautifully sympathetic ensemble playing and engaging presence. Calluna’s debut CD was described as ‘Refreshing new music’ by The List and ‘Spirited and immensely talented’ by The Scotsman

Winner of BBC/Hands up for Trad Best Up and Coming Artist of the Year 2005.
Jenna built on her success as Shetland Fiddler of the Year by helping form Dochas and Filska, with whom she has toured the world, representing Scotland at the Millennium celebrations in the USA. Performing with sister Bethany who won the Shetlands Young Fiddler of the Year competition at the age of 12, and Kevin Mackenzie, recipient of the highly acclaimed Creative Scotland Award.

Lauren combines her performances with a passion for teaching. She is a resident tutor for Glasgow Fiddle Workshop.

Barry is a founding member of high energy band Croft No. Five, and plays with the Lori Watson Trio. The versatility of Barry's guitar playing spans the spectrum from traditional through classical to jazz, blues and rock. He has a lovely touch as an acoustic guitarist whether solo or accompanying tune and song.

Fiddle, piano, guitar.
Winner of the prestigious BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award 2004, Lauren is a regular on radio and TV - including Radio Scotland’s Travelling Folk, Radio nan Gaidheal, BBC 2 Alba, and as part of Donald Shaw’s Harvest commission on 2004’s BBC Hogmanay Live Show. Playing with Lauren and Barry is pianist James Ross whose career has blossomed since we last saw him locally, having composed and performed a New Voice work for Celtic Connections, and launched a great solo cd.
