Celtic Connections

Our tutor, Anna-Wendy, is very involved in Celtic Connections in Glasgow in January, as are lots of the great musicians who have visited us. See news item for more details

Hopefully lots of members and supporters will be going to Anna-Wendy’s ‘ main’ event at CC. On 22nd Jan 1.00 p.m. (Sunday) she is performing her own composition especially commissioned by CC as part of their ‘New Voices’ programme. AW has drawn on her surroundings, memories, views and music of her home town, Edinburgh, for the piece. She will also play, amongst many other appearances, in the repeat performance of James Ross’ New Voices work. Most of you will know James as the guest at our recent Christmas/Award celebration, his tour of Argyll schools and venues with AW, and his concert with Sara Jane Fifield.

Other musicians well known to Lochgoil and local audiences include the formidable Chris Stout, members of Blazin’Fiddles, Duncan Chisholm, Kris Driver, Fraser Fifield, Steve Bryrne, Karine Polwart, Bruce Molsky, Emily Smith.

It is good to see that the major festivals have the good taste to have the same performers as LFW!! (That’s meant to be a joke – I think)

You can also get a chance to see the Anna Massie Band who are performing for us in Feb (see events listings)

See www.celticconnections.com for more details and bookings
